Mount Garibaldi attempt

                                                            Mount Garibaldi July 10th 2011

Since I moved to Canada I always had my eyes on Mount Garibaldi, heard some stories and saw some photos of it so I always wanted to get up there and Adrien asked me to choose one mountain that I want to climb before I will move from BC to NB so of course I said Mount Garibaldi.

It was a group of 5 of us, Me,dean,Adrien,Bonn-Tien and Paul that left Vancouver early and soon we got to the logging road which I wasn't able to drive too far with my 2WD car so at some point I stopped and parked my car and we all got into Dean's Jeep.
We made it almost to the end but it was getting pretty rough in spots and that's where we stopped.

It didn't took us too much time to get to the hut following the logging road and we had another uphill from the hut after what we had a nice ridge walk with beautiful views towards Vancouver.

Soon we got to our camping spot which was just before the ridge gets a bit gnarly and after setting up our tents we started our way up towards the summit.

After we got over the tricky ridge, which was the most class 3 but with loose rocks we soon got back down on the snow and started our way towards the glacier where we got all roped up in 2 teams.

It was pretty impressive to walk under those massive serracs and see Mount table from that angle.

After crossing the glacier it was time to start getting up on the summit ridge which is a bit steep  at the start but get pretty mellow after that.

Once we passed the steep section we could finally see the summit of Mount Garibaldi which was still pretty far.

We were slowly moving and getting closer navigating through some crevasses that were visible.

As we were getting closer to the bergshunrd we knew that there might be a problem and might not be able cross it.

Once we got to the bergshunrd we knew that we won't be able to cross but we tried for a while to find a small bridge that would get us across but we didn't find anything.

We were so close to the summit but we had no choice than just turning back this time.

While we were making our way down we had some pretty good views of the sunset which was a bonus for us.

Once we got back to our campsite we had our dinners and went to bed .

The next morning we slept in since we had lots of time to get out and slowly we started our way back down to the parking lot.
