Mount McGuire

                                                        Mount McGuire-August 05-2013

Me and Dean decided to go for Mount McGuire but none of us did any research online of the road condition and we left towards the road.

Once we got at the beginning of the road described in Scrambles book we got to a dead end, the road was blocked and Dean was getting to start hiking but then I told him that we should maybe look for some reports and see what's up with this access, if it's still doable from here or there is another trail.

After going through few trip reports we found out about the new trail that goes from Tamihi Creek FSR so we started our drive back down to Tamihi Creek.

Once we got on Tamihi creek fsr I was able to drive about half way up the road with my 2WD, got stopped by some deeper waterbars and it was getting pretty steep for my car.

We parked the car and soon started our hike on the logging road.

The route was pretty new and the trail wasn't that obvious form the road and it was pretty bushy in some sections where we couldn't see any flagging for few good minutes.

Soon we got onto boulder field and started our way towards the NE ridge.

Finally higher up the terrain got better and less bushy and we could see the road that we just hiked up on.

Soon we got to a scree slope that we had to traverse and slowly making our way to the summit ridge.

there was some steep sections with lots of loose rocks before getting on the ridge.

Once we got on the ridge the summit wasn't too far .

We didn't had too much time since we wasted a lot of time in the morning trying to figure out where is the trail for the peak so we just took few photos and started our way back down to the car.
