Yak Peak-July 01 2013
Since it was a day off and Me and Marius were back from our climb of Mount Rainier we decided to do something short and went for the mighty looking Yak Peak.
We couldn't find the trail and had to walk back and fourth along the highway before we found the flagging for the route.
The trail was a bit bushy but pretty easy to follow.
Didn't took us too much time and we had our first views.
Soon we got close to the slabby face of Yak Peak and started following cairns before entering the forest again.
Here the trail gets pretty steep and pretty bushy in few spots.
Once we got higher up we aimed for the ridge which had still some snow.
It was getting warm and the snow getting a bit slushy so it was tricky to get up on the ridge,we had to go on some ledges and steep grassy sections.
We took our time on the summit and soon we had a visitor a small plane that saw us and was doing laps near us trying to get pretty close to us.
The decent was pretty fast and it was a pretty short day, just what we needed after our climb on Mount Rainier.
