Robie Reid

Robie Reid Mountain July 1st 2015

It was another BCMC trip by Alastair and him and few other cars already were there the night before while we drove the next morning to meet the group at the parking lot.

It was a pretty big group, wasn't expecting to see that many people but I guess it's Canada Day and Robie Reid.

Once everybody was ready we started hiking down to Allouette lake and thinking how much fun it will be that last uphill on our way back to the car.

The trail was pretty good and flat for a while and we were going pretty fast but as soon as the trail started to climb the group spread out and about half way up one person decided to go back to the car.

The steep uphill part wasn't pleasant, it was pretty warm outside already and we were moving slower and trying to save water since we had a long day ahead of us.

At the first opening we stopped and regrouped there after what we continued our way towards the slabs where Alastair went a different way while I was following some slings that I saw from bellow which were leading into a narrow gully that was close to class 4 scramble.

Once we got pass that section the terrain got easier and soon we went around the subsummit from where we could see finally our destination which wasn't that far.

Once we got on the summit  we waited for the rest of the group while taking a lot of summit photos.

and since 4 of us were in the same car we decided to start going down and Alastair suggested we take the rope with us and set it up at the narrow gully.

So we took the rope and started our way down.

Once we got at the gully I went down first without using the rope and felt fine so we left the rope there for the rest of the group that was behind us and everybody made it down safe the gully.

After that we had a long and steep way back down to the car with one last uphill just before the parking lot.
