We decided to do some car camping into Downton Creek area and chose to do Melvin area on our first day in there.
We drove up Downton Creek road which was in pretty good shape and parked the car at the small branch that goes into Melvin creek.
We followed the road to its end from where we crossed the creek and started our way slowly up following the endless and famous boulders.
Once we were getting near the lake at about 2020m we started to go up that endless scree slope that only got better only once we were getting closer to the ridge.
Once we got on Melvin peak since we had some extra time we decided to go for Melvin S1 and maybe have some different views.
The way back down again wasn't pleasant but way better than going up on that scree slope and then there was that boulder filed area where there was lots of big boulders that were moving.
Once we got back to the car we had our dinner and went to bed to get some rest for our next day in that area.
