Channel

                                                 Channel Peak August 09th 2015

This was our second day of a car camping weekend in Duffey for the weekend, on the first day we did Downton and Nraiteskel Peaks and slept at a small camping site just before Channel Creek FSR with Dave,Michelle and Dean while the other group that joined us drove back to Vancouver.

The next morning we woke up and after our breakfast we started driving to Channel Creek FSR, the road was in pretty good shape but lots of small branches in the middle of the road so we parked just after the first switch back where we found a spot to turn around and park our cars.

Once we were ready we were hesitating to go since the bushes were pretty wet from that rain on the previous day but we decided to just give it a try and the plan was to got for Channel and connect with Tigger Peak.

We followed the road to 1350m where we took the main road going left and followed that near the creek crossing at 1480m.

The creek crossing wasn't too bad and after hiking few minutes in the forest we found some flagging for a while until we couldn't find  anymore flagging tape but we weren't too far from the lake so just went straight up towards the lake.

Once we got at the lake we enjoyed the views for a bit before going further.

We crossed the creek and pretty much right from the lake we started to go up and slowly traversing at the same time.

The route up wasn't too bad except some loose towers higher up once we got on Channel ridge and we had to by pass few of them.

Once we got on the summit of Channel Peak we took our time to enjoy the sun.

Soon we left Channel Peak and we were debating about going to Tigger but decided to follow the South ridge for a bit.

Once we got just above the upper lake we decided to go down and followed a pretty easy gully that went almost all the way down to the upper lake.

Near the upper lake we had to get out of the gully and traverse from where we were free again to hike back down to the lower lake.

The way back down to the car was pretty fast and we were happy that those bushes were dry this time.
