Kafir,Birkenhead

                                            Kafir,Birkenhead  Mountains-May 31st 2014

This time we decided with Adrien and Ben to do a weekend as a car camping trip and choose to go for Birkenhead area for our first day.

We drove pretty high up with my Civic but near the end we got stopped by some snow that was still on the road for this season.

After a short hike on the road we soon reached the end of the road and those microwaves towers and looked in the book for our route and started making our way towards the ridge.

Once we got closer to the ridge we took a look for a shorter line up the face to gain the ridge so we could skip the traverse described in Scrambles book and once we found a way to get up the face we made our decision to start going up.

The way we took wasn't too bad, it had only one move with a long reach which was ok and soon we reached the ridge.

We started our way along the ridge towards the summit of Kafir Peak which wasn't too far from the point where we reached the ridge.

From the summit of Kafir we dropped to the Kafir-Birkhorn col  we continued along the ridge towards our destination for the day.

Soon we got to the last part, last climb to the summit of Birkenhead.

Beautiful views on the summit of Birkenhead and we had some spare time since we were planning to car camp that night.

Soon we left the summit and started our way back down to the car following the same route.

On our way down from the ridge back to the microwave towers we decided to get down on a snow slope that was still in and helped us to get down a bit faster.

Stoyoma

                                                        Stoyoma Peak- May 24th 2014

It was a pretty long drive for sure, especially going that far out for a day trip but the weather was looking OK in that area and we decided to give it a go.

The logging road wasn't too bad but we got stopped by the snow not too far from Cabin Lake.

We followed the road for most of the way, in few spots we decided to take some shortcuts that weren't working that well for us so we stayed mostly on the roads.

Wasn't too long to reach the summit from the end of the logging roads, we were going pretty fast since the snow wasn't too soft.

We were mostly on snow with few scree sections near the summit.

Once we were getting near the summit we got into some clouds and of course we didn't had any views on the summit.
