Statimcets and Linus Peaks

                                      Statimcets and Linus Peaks-October 12-13 2013

We were making plans where to get out that weekend and I got a call from Dean who wanted to get out with me and Ben so I asked him if maybe he has some ideas where we can go as overnight since the weather wasn't looking that great for the first day and he said Downton but I heard Downtown, so at first I tough he wants to do some running or something in Downtown Vancouver.

The next morning we left Vancouver pretty early since it's a pretty long drive towards Downton Creek area.

The road was in pretty good shape even for my 2WD Civic and we didn't had any problems for most of the way up.

Once we were getting closer to the parking area which is at about 1750m we started to have some fresh snow on the road, but even that didn't stopped us from getting all the way up to the parking lot.

I was surprised how high we drove and how good the road was and even in those clouds the area was looking pretty impressive.

Soon we left the car and started hiking following a pretty good trail that stayed pretty well marked all the way up into alpine from where we took a slight right and started our way up the slope.

At about 2200m we found a pretty good spot where we decided to set our camp and leave our overnight gear.

After setting up our tent we started our way up towards Statimcets Peak.

We were in clouds for most of the time and from time to time we had some small windows when we could take some photos and see our route in front of us.

Getting up Statimcets was pretty easy and straight forward even in those clouds.

From the summit of Statimcets we continued our way along the ridge towards Linus Peak.

The ridge stays pretty wide and easy to follow and just before Linus Peak it gets a bit more broken which was pretty interesting with all that fresh snow.

And soon we got to the famous au cheval section which wasn't that easy with that snow on it.

From Linus Peak we started our way down to our campsite and after a horrible section of huge boulders covered in snow we finally reached our campsite just before dark.

The next morning we woke up with beautiful views and we could actually see the area in the day light but my boots and Dean's boots were frozen.

After trying for few minutes to get my foot in my boots me and Dean had to turn on our stove and heat them up with the stove for few minutes which helped.

After finally getting our boots on and packing our tents we started our way back down to the car and we were hoping that there wouldn't be a lot of fresh snow on that road.
