Nak

Nak Peak, Coquihalla area, March 30th 2014

The weather forecast wasn't that great but we decided to go with Ben for a mellow peak up in Coquihalla, Nak Peak.

Ski route photo from Steven's website

We followed the access described in John Baldwin's book, which is the exit past Zopkios Ridge Lookout and it's past the big slabs of Yak Peak, so we had to drive a bit past that exit to Falls Lake, exit 221 and turn around over there since there isn't access to that exit if you are driving from Vancouver.

Once we got at the parking area, we got all our gear ready and started to follow the Pipe line road for a bit.

After what we entered the steep forest on our left and started climbing up towards the summit.

It's pretty mellow skinning all the way up with few steep spots and a short section of bootpacking near the summit, and we were mostly in the trees for most of the time except on the summit.

Once we got on the summit we didn't spend too much time since we didn't had any views and soon we started our ski back down to the car which was pretty fast.

Took us way less time than we tough it will take us but the weather wasn't on our side so went home but for sure you can do 2 laps off the summit and still have a short day up there.
