Bible Group Loop

                                      The Bible Group Loop-September 27-28th 2014
Midian, Baal, St. Jacobs and Gideon Peaks

After trying to go up Gideon Peak not too long ago on skis we decided to leave that area for a nice summer weekend and do a loop connecting the 4 peaks in the area.

We took Van Horlick FSR which was in good shape all the way to the bridge that was destroyed.

We started our way hiking on the Captin Spur road after crossing the destroyed bridge and we followed that spur road almost to it's end from where we followed the creek all the way up to the lake at the base of Midian Peak where we chose to set our campsite by the lake.

After we finished setting up our tents we went up Midian and Baal Peaks the same day which allowed us to have some nice colours and see the camp and that beautiful lake from above.

Once we got back down to our camp we still had some time left before we had our dinners and went to bed.

The next morning after our breakfasts we packed our gear and started our way St.Jacobs, by going to Ball-St.Jacobs col from where we followed the East Ridge of St.Jacobs.

From St.Jacobs we continued our way along the ridge towards our last peak for the day, Gideon.

Once we were getting closer to the summit the terrain was getting pretty impressive and a little bit tricky, with huge boulders along the way.

From the summit of Gideon we again had some tricky spots with pretty huge boulders where we had to jump to reach the ground which was ok for me and Ben but a bit harder for Dean and we had to help him out in one of the spot.

Soon we got down off the ridge and got in the area where we skied last time we were there and we were pretty familiar with the terrain following the glacier and then following the moraine.

For our way back to the car we followed Morrison Eastside Spur which was pretty bushy for most of the way back to the car.
