Grouty Peak

                                                              Grouty Peak- August 03 2013

Adrien suggested to get up Hurley and spend a weekend in there, hiking up Grouty Peak on the first day and doing Locomotive Group on our second day.

We left early Vancouver and soon we got in Pemberton from where we started our way towards Hurley which wasn't too rough but there was some bad spots for my 2WD.

Soon we finally got up the hill and got by the parking lot for Locomotive group and we drove for another km or a little bit more and that's where the trail for Grouty Peak was located.

There was a lot of marking tape on the right side and a small parking area on the left side.

The start of the trail is pretty steep and keep staying steep pretty much until you reach the alpine and get some views.

Once we got into the alpine we started to make out way to the ridge slowly traversing at the same time and in some spots it gets steep and pretty slippery since it's all just grassy slopes.

Soon enough we got on the ridge and started our way towards the summit of Grouty Peak.

There are few sub summits to go over that makes the trip endless.

We were watching a huge cloud that wasn't too far from us and we could hear a lot of thunder which was getting closer and closer to us.

Once we got on the summit we took few photos and started our way back down since those clouds were getting closer to us.

At some point the rain was getting pretty close to us so we decided to find a rock and hide under for few minutes .

We stayed under that rock for maybe 15 minutes after what we continued our way back down to the car, the only bad thing was that those steep grassy slopes now were wet and it was challenging to get down.

Once we got back down to the car we decided to just camp there since there wasn't any other car and found a perfect flat spot in the woods next to the parking spot for Grouty Peak.
