Mount Carleton is the highest peak in New Brunswick and Maritime Provinces.
Since it was winter time the road was only plowed to Nictau Lake that is 2.3 km from visitor centre.
From there we soon started our long on the road which was about 10 km on the logging road to the trailhead to Mount Carleton.
The road is mostly flat with minor ups and downs so didn't took us too much time to get to the trailhead.
The trail is basically an old logging road that you follow for a bit.
The had to do some navigation from time to time since didn't looked like too many people are going up there in winter time and there was no sign of any old tracks.
There was some blue markers here and there but sometimes there will be a while until you will see the next marker.
At some point we got to an older camping site with a older cabin, from where we knew we are not too far from the summit.
Things were opening up and finally we were getting closer to the summit and following now the summit ridge.
In just few minutes we started to see the famous Mount Carleton fire tower which looked pretty nice from far away.
It was pretty windy and cold and we were hoping to get warmer inside but it was a bit colder inside than outside, but at least not windy.
Back down we made it pretty fast since we already had a trail to follow.
Beautiful area that is not busy at all in winter time.
