Little Diamond Head,Gargoyles,Columnar Peaks

               Little Diamond Head,Gargoyles,Columnar Peaks-October 06,2010

After a hike with North Shore Hikers a while ago ago, I wanted to go back into that area and try to get up Little Diamond Head, so I posted a trip on Clubtread hoping that I will find at least one person willing to join me and I got lucky and Marius was interested and had the day off.

So we started pretty early from Vancouver and we started around 7 AM form the parking lot.

Din't took us too much time to get to the first hut.
Once we passed the hut we found lots and lots of blueberries along the trail that we couldn't miss without trying them.

Half way to Elfin Lake Hut we saw a Mama Bear with cubs on the trail, but looked like they were pretty used to people and didn't care too much about us, but we still waited a bit and gave them room before we continued our way further towards the hut.

Beautiful view at the Elfin Lake Hut and we could see Little Diamond Head that didn't looked that far away.

Soon we started our way down and then up to Gargoyles col from where we had to drop again to join the ridge going to Little Diamond Head.

The views were getting better and better as we were getting closer to the summit and the view of Atwell Peak was just something special.

We took our time on the summit of Little Diamond head and took lots and lots of photos but soon it was time to start going down.

Once we got back to the col we went up to Gargoyles Peak which was a short and fun scramble to the summit and offered a pretty nice view of Little Diamond Head and Atwell.

After Gargoyles we decided to continue and go for Columnar peak which wasn't too far, and the ridge to the summit was pretty fun too.

We still had some energy left and still had some time left so we decided to keep going and go towards Opal Cone Peak.

Didn't took us too much to get to the creek but once we got at the creek we saw that the bridge was washed away and after looking for a while for a way to cross the creek we had to turn back because the creek was going pretty fast and none of us were excited to try and cross it.

We had to do one more uphill back to Elfin lake Hut from where was a pleasant hike back down to the car where we got at about 7.30 PM.

It was a great trip with way more peaks than I planned and expected.
